Sacred Body
Managing our energy is one of the paramount tasks as we age. As we turn the corner on 50 years, our energy changes. We don’t have unlimited energy anymore. We don’t have the strength that we once did without much effort.
Now we have to pay more attention. Maybe even make some changes to our lifestyle.
There are all sorts of studies that prove exercise, movement and specifically, strength training are key activities for not just a long life but a healthy long life.
We all want to feel physically strong.
We want to experience good balance and the ability to walk safely, and comfortably up and down stairs.
We want good cardiovascular health and good physical endurance to do what we want to do when we want to do it.
We want to sleep well. Consistently.
We want to feel hopeful and at peace.
We want to get up and down from the toilet and in and out of the shower with ease.
We want to be able to sink into a comfy couch without wondering how we will get up without help.
This is what is so sacred about strength. It gives us all these things and so much more.
The (non) Program
My approach combines functional strength training, strong and soft yoga, intuitive movement, breath work and meditation.
There is no pre-designed program. Your intention and your body design the program in real time. I will help you do this.
What does your body feel like doing on any particular day? Can we both give the body what it craves and also push it a little?
What is possible, strength-wise and cardiovascular-wise, that both challenge your body and is also in alignment with your energy.
What can we do that will leave you feeling stronger, brighter and better than before you began?
That will be the program. That will be what we do.
The work is not what you may think. The difficulty is not in the weights or the movements.
It is in the commitment to yourself. This is ALWAYS the work. For all of us.
If you commit to this work, you will get results. You will get stronger. You will increase your balance. You will feel fewer aches and pains. You will sink into that comfy couch without any worry.
Committing to showing up for 90 minutes per week to tend to your sacred body can change your experience in your life. It can extend your life.
At 52, I think of it as training for old age. I’m planning on being an active 90 year old!
This what my client Riva has to say:
“The words “second chances” come to mind when thinking of this work with Alyssa. At 76, I’m learning to love my aging body and develop the skills and strength to navigate the aging process. I am overcome with gratitude for this work!
I used to think I could never be strong. This work has changed that belief and so many other beliefs I had about myself - like my willingness to do hard things and my wellness to show up again and again.
I signed up to get stronger and didn’t know the half of what I was going to get out of these sessions. After 15 months of showing up 3x a week, I’m stronger and learning to accept where I am and how I feel on each day. I’m kinder to myself.
I see myself as a strong woman because I am.

How I work:
All meetings are on zoom.
Before you commit:
We will begin with a 30 minute call to assess where you are and where you would like to be.
Once you commit:
There are two options for our work together.
MWF 30-minute morning sessions
TTh 45-minute morning sessions
We will agree on a schedule and mutually commit to showing up and letting the magic unfold.
Email me at alyssaksnow@gmail.com and tell me about yourself. Write as little or as much as you like. Writing is cathartic and will help you in your process.
I will respond within 48 hours (usually sooner) and we will take it from there.
My fee is on a sliding scale and represents a monthly investment. My full rate is representative of my mastery and experience in this field. The sliding scale is representative of my desire for this work to be financially available to as many people as possible.
